Matuszak Named Regional Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA– Trevor Matuszak was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s 2008 Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year, adding to his long list of accolades of this season.
The senior claimed All-Ohio and HCAC Championship titles this season in the hammer throw, while also automatically qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. Matuszak broke his own school record at the Billy Hayes Invitational with a toss of 196-06.00 feet, giving him the best mark in Div. III this season. The Indoor All-American will look to become DC’s first NCAA Track & Field National Champion since 1997.Matuszak will compete in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 23, with the first flight beginning at 6:00 p.m.
