Defiance's Emily Meyer Named Academic All-District IV in Women's Tennis

DEFIANCE , OH – Emily Meyer has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The award recognizes student athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom as well as on the playing field. In order to be eligible for this award, the athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status or higher academically, participate in over half of the team’s games and play a key role in those games.Meyer finished the 2007 season with a 12-6 record in No. 1 singles, winning eight of her last ten matches. She finished fourth at this year's HCAC singles tournament in Indianapolis, Ind., earning All-HCAC honors for the third consecutive season. The Napoleon, Ohio native left her mark on the DC women's tennis program compiling a 32-16 singles record over her career.
Teaming with Amanda Auzins, Meyer went 30-14 in doubles action over the last three seasons. This season the two went 11-7, before eventually finishing third at the HCAC tournament.
The senior posted a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average, majoring in early childhood education.
