OSHKOSH, Wisc.– Trevor Matuszak earned a second-place finish in the hammer throw at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 23. He became Defiance’s eighth track & field All-American.

The Ottawa Lake, Mich. native threw 189-03.00 feet in his first throw of finals to take the lead after the first five throws. St. Thomas’ Mark O’Connell threw 191-00.00 on his final attempt to claim the individual crown.

Matuszak earns All-American status for the second time this season, after finishing second in the weight throw at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships. He broke the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships record in the hammer throw with a toss of 183-10, winning the event for the second year in a row.
