Two Rose-Hulman Softball Players Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

TERRE HAUTE, IN -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed two players on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-Central Region Softball Team, in results released today by the organization.
Sophomore Jordan Goslee (St. Joseph, Mich./H.S.) claimed second-team all-region honors, while senior Ashley Montgomery (Plainfield, Ind./H.S.) earned third-team all-region accolades.
Goslee established single-season school records for earned run average, strikeouts and won-loss percentage. She finished the season with a 12-2 record, a 1.05 earned run average and 148 strikeouts in 107 innings pitched.
In addition, Goslee ranks third on the single-season school record list with 12 victories and held the opposition to a .194 batting average for the season. Her efforts included the top four single-game strikeout performances in school history, highlighted by a 16-strikeout effort in a victory over Anderson.
The right-hander also batted .303 with 36 hits, nine doubles, one home run and 19 runs scored in 37 starts at the plate.Montgomery recorded a .377 batting average with 40 hits, 24 runs scored, six doubles, three triples and a team-high .519 slugging average. She also recorded 11 stolen bases to graduate with a career school record mark of 37.Other career school records for Montgomery include most hits (149), runs scored (103), triples (6) and total bases (202).Montgomery becomes the first two-time all-region selection in the history of Rose-Hulman softball after earning first-team accolades in 2006. Goslee and Montgomery bring the total of Engineer all-region honorees to seven since 2004.
The efforts of Goslee and Montgomery helped Rose-Hulman achieve a school record with 25 victories this season. The 25-12 record featured the first regular season conference championship in school history and a school record 10-game winning streak.
