Anderson Earns Third Straight Win with Last Second Heroics

CINCINNATI , OH - Anderson 's Tristan Cork ( Indianapolis , Ind. /Heritage Christian) kicked a school-record tying 46-yard field goal with six seconds left to give the Ravens (3-2, 2-0 HCAC) a 10-9 victory over HCAC foe Mount St. Joseph (3-2, 1-2 HCAC) on Saturday at Schueler Field in Cincinnati.
Cork 's boot came on the heels of a 15-play, 70-yard drive that started from the Ravens' own 1-yard line with 2:34 left in the game. Darryl Stott (Union City, Ind./H.S.) , who had five carries for 24 yards on the final drive, finished the game with 24 attempts for 160 yards, including a 5-yard TD in the second quarter to give the Ravens a 7-3 lead at the half.
Sophomore quarterback Mitch Grider (Brookville, Ind./Franklin Co.) finished the game 12 of 21 for 109 yards, completing 4 of his 5 attempts on the final drive for 37 yards.
The Ravens totaled 207 rushing yards against the stout Lions defense. Mount St. Joseph rushed 43 times for only 118 yards against the AU defensive front.
Sophomore running back Jake Davis (Cincinnati , Ohio / Anderson ) led the MSJ rushing game with 67 yards and the Mount's only touchdown.
The victory was the first for the Ravens over the Lions in five years and marks their first three-game HCAC winning streak for AU since 2003-04.
Anderson will welcome Franklin to town for Homecoming festivities next weekend, while Mount St. Joseph will travel to Hanover to face the Panthers.

Franklin had little problem winning their 2008 Homecoming football game, trouncing Bluffton 63-3 before a jam-packed crowd at Faught Stadium. The Grizzlies (4-1, 2-0 HCAC) scored no less than two touchdowns in each quarter and posted the team's 13 th straight HCAC win. Bluffton (1-4, 0-2 HCAC) continued their offensive struggles in the loss to Franklin , totaling only 111 yards of offense on the afternoon. The blue and gold racked up 488 yards of offense with a very balanced attack. FC rushed for 246 yards on 35 carries and added 242 yards via the passing game. Quarterback Chad Rupp (Evansville , Ind. /Memorial) tossed three touchdowns, completing 15 of his 21 passes for 206 yards. The Grizzlies scored four touchdowns on the ground against the Beavers defense and added two blocked punt returns for touchdowns to complete the scoring. Franklin will travel to Anderson next weekend for a critical contest with the Ravens, while Bluffton tangles with Manchester .
Manchester improved to 3-2 on the year with a 20-7 win over Defiance Saturday. The Spartans (3-2, 1-1 HCAC) jumped out early, leading 20-0 at the half and never looked back. Brandon Wells (Woodburn , Ind. /Woodlan) found the end zone midway through the first quarter, giving MC a 6-0 lead. Wells finished with 158 yards and a score on 34 carries. Manchester quarterback Caleb Grimes (South Haven, Mich./H.S.) completed 19 of his 31 pass attempts for 152 yards and two scores to pace the black and gold offense. Defiance (0-5, 0-2 HCAC) failed to score in the opening 30 minutes of play for the fourth time in five games this season to remain winless. Quarterback Rick Powell (Rochester , Mich. /Cousino) completed 15 of his 31 attempts for 127 yards and the lone Yellow Jacket touchdown. Manchester will head to Bluffton next weekend, while the Jackets will try for their first win at home against Rose-Hulman.
The Rose-Hulman (5-1, 3-0 HCAC) football team improved to 5-1 on the season and won its first game at Hanover College since 1988 with a 44-33 victory over the Panthers (0-4, 0-2 HCAC) on Saturday. With the win, the Engineers remain in first place in the HCAC standings with a perfect 3-0 mark. Junior Calvin Bueltel (Huntingburg , Ind. /Southridge) led the Engineer offense with 167 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Junior Derek Eitel (Marshall , Ill. /H.S.) finished 14 of 22 through the air for 166 yards and one touchdown to balance Rose-Hulman's offensive performance that totaled 442 yards. Hanover 's offense put up impressive numbers in the loss, tallying 33 first downs and 446 yards of total offense. Freshman quarterback Nick Sharp (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) completed 41 of his 61 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns in the loss. Tyler Thiems (Indianapolis , Ind. /North Central) tied his own school record with 18 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Smart (Coral Springs , Fla. /H.S.) added eight catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Rose will look to stay perfect in HCAC play next weekend at Defiance . Hanover will search for their first win of the season at home against Mount St. Joseph .
