Rose-Hulman's Danesis Named Women's Tennis MVP for Third Straight Year

GREENWOOD , IN - Rose-Hulman's Sam Danesis (Akron , Ohio / Revere ) has been named the 2008 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis Most Valuable Player for the third straight year.
Danesis completed her junior season with an overall record of 23-1, while finishing the conference season with a 15-1 mark. Danesis finished 12-0, 8-0 HCAC at No. 1 singles and 11-1, 7-1 HCAC at No. 1 doubles this fall. She won the HCAC Invitational at No. 1 singles and teamed with teammate Megan Chann to earn the title at No. 1 doubles this past weekend.
Thirteen other players join Danesis on the All-HCAC team, including four other seniors and four sophomores. Anderson's Alex Hammel (Anderson, Ind.), Franklin's Morgan Bright (Greenwood, Ind.), Emily Ruch (Lebanon, Ind.) and Kayli Schafer (Mooresville, Ind.), Hanover's Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.), Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.), and Angie Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.), Manchester's Jordin Youst (Plymouth, Ind.), Milli Ridoutt (Warsaw, Ind.), and Christa Hunter (New Haven, Ind.), Mount St. Joseph's Whitney Thomas (New Albany, Ind.), and Transylvania's Katie Boone (Lancaster, Ohio) and Kelsey Fulkerson (Lexington, Ky.) have been named to this year's team.
Transylvania 's Kelsey Fulkerson was named as the conference's Freshman of the Year. Fulkerson finished with a 13-3 overall record during the regular season and claimed a 13-3 conference record at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Pioneers.
The 2008 Women's Tennis Coach of the Year will be announced following the HCAC Automatic Qualifier Tournament to be held this Thursday and Friday at West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis .
