Mount St. Joseph 's Beth Schuermann Honored as HCAC Women's Player of the Month

GREENWOOD , IN - Mount St. Joseph 's Beth Schuermann (Cincinnati , Ohio /Home Schooled) has been named October's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Player of the Month. The senior soccer forward was instrumental in propelling the Lions to the 2008 HCAC women's soccer championship and a 7-0 conference record during the month.
Schuermann played in all eight games during the month and netted seven goals and two assists for a total of 16 points. The senior scored at least one goal and had points in six of the games during October, including game-winning goals against Franklin and Transylvania . The win at Transy delivered the Mount a perfect 8-0 conference mark and the top seed in the upcoming HCAC tournament.
The Cincinnati native earned the HCAC Player of the Week award for her performance during the week of October 12. The Lions posted a 4-0 win against Franklin and a 7-0 victory over Anderson during the week as Schuermann netted three goals and an assist.
Through October, Schuermann leads the Mount and ranks among the conference leaders with 13 goals and 29 points scored.
Beth is the third Mount female athlete to be named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Month, and is the fourth women's soccer player to earn the award.
The HCAC Player of the Month award is in its fourth year of existence. The award is voted on by the sports information directors of each member institution.
