November 8, 2008

Box Score

TERRE HAUTE , IN - Rose-Hulman defeated visiting Transylvania , 1-0, on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school's first HCAC men's soccer tournament championship. The top-seeded Engineers (14-4-3) earn the school's first trip to the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament with the win.

The Engineers jumped out to a 1-0 lead early. Sophomore forward Corbin Clow (Martinsville , Ind. /H.S.) broke into the scoring column in the ninth minute thanks to an assist from junior Cameron Hazel (Danville , Ill. /Schlarman) . The 1-0 score ended up holding the rest of the way as the two squads failed to find the net the rest of the contest.

The visiting Pioneers more than doubled the Engineers in shots, out shooting the home team 14 to six in the losing cause.

Rose will learn of its first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 12.
