MSJ Women Top Manchester for HCAC Soccer Tourney Title

CINCINNATI , OH - The College of Mount St. Joseph upended visiting Manchester , 1-0, on Saturday afternoon to pick up the school's sixth HCAC women's soccer tournament championship. The top-seeded Lions (14-4-2) earn the school's first trip to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament since 2005 with the win.
The Lions dominated the Spartans, out-shooting the visitors 23-2 throughout the contest. In the game's 27 th minute Beth Schuermann (Cincinnati , Ohio /Home Schooled) netted her 15 th goal of the season on an assist from Allie Pirman (Amelia , Ohio /H.S.) to deliver MSJ the 1-0 win.
The visiting Spartans had little opportunities throughout the game. Manchester only managed two shots and one shot on goal against a very stingy Lions defense. Mount senior goalkeeper Kelly Bare (Cincinnati , Ohio /Colerain) turned in an impressive effort, recording her 14 th shutout of the season and notching a save in the winning cause.
Mount St. Joseph will learn of its first opponent in the NCAA tournament on Monday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 12. The Lions enter the NCAA Division III tournament posting wins in nine of their last 10 games.
